I have some frozen grapes I raised, can I still ferment/culture them even tho they were frozen? Thanks if you can answer this. Jane

Is it safe for the young kids? Really eager to know about that because my kids just started to love the fermented foods.

Creative ways to eat sour kraut that I have found, include adding apples, purple cavage, beets, tumeric, a coupple drops of chlorophyll etc to separate batches. So I get a rainbow and make salads with various colored krauts. I make kraut and meat sandwiches such as crock monseiur with added keaut. I add it to pita pizza (sprouted) Put it in broth "beet soup" I fermented whole leaf cabbage for cabbage rolls. Got to be careful pulling them out of the jar, use wide mouth.

I combine it with carrot, raisin, cole slaw, fermented sprouts. My picky guy eats this stuff most of the time. If one day he doesn't want it I don't push it.

By far my son's favorite is Water Kefir fermented preserves. I buy organic preserves, add a teaspoon water kefir, mix well and allow fermenting on counter.

I take apple sauce as nd fruit butters and do the same, I use water kefir on s moothies, juices, gellatin. Popsicles.

He loves all these things. He is always having "treats" at first the effervescence was a challenge but more and more he appreciates it. I think the key is really getting the ferments to the right peak time, and on to the fridge.

While I love ferments that went a bit linger, I kotice these are the ones he does not appreciate. Taste is dharper.

Don't know if colostrum counts a probiotics but we love it too, we do splurge when ever we can get it.

My 18 month old daughter has been eating our homemade Piima yogurt since she was 1 and LOVES sauerkraut. I've been wanting to introduce more fermented foods so loved this post!

My husband is Arab and pickles are very common in the Arab world. I still can't eat them... to me they taste rotten. My kids, however, who spent much of their childhood in my husband's hometown eat and love all of the pickles their grandmother makes and stores in huge jars in the coolest part of the house. I make them of course, but when they are "ready" after three weeks I store them in the fridge, otherwise I just can't stomach them. The exception is olives--I don't store my home cracked olives in the fridge, and they taste great all year long.

No. I don't recommend powdered whey.
